Our ‘Beat the Cold’ volunteer is trained to give practical advice about keeping warm through heating, sensible eating and the wearing of suitable clothing to anyone over the age of 60.
She can also help people to apply for grants to help with the insulation and heating of cold homes. These grants are available through the government funded ‘Warm Front Scheme’, and are available to people on the following benefits.
Pension Credit
Council Tax Benefit
Housing Benefit
Attendance Allowance
Income Support
Insulation grants of up to 50% may also be available to people who do not receive any benefits.

If the room falls below 15C/60F you should turn up the heating, otherwise you are at risk from hypothermia.
